Come join us for some focused time away to learn the latest crafting techniques at the Rubber Stamping Craft Technique Weekend Retreat. This is an annual event we look forward to each year. The craft techniques we will be showcasing are just a few ways you can use your stamps, paper, and ink to create a variety of projects! When you join us for this relaxing weekend, you’ll take home our popular Technique Notebook, a handy reference tool to store your techniques, as our gift to you.

We have limited availability due to COVID restrictions. Each person will receive a single room. Everyone will have their own table and will be asked to bring their own tools. See more about COVID Policy at Grunewald Retreat.

This year, each attendee will be able to stay three days for the price of two days last year in a single room. YAY!

Leavenworth, WA is a perfect destination. Nestled in the heart of the Cascades Mountains between Seattle and Spokane. This unique Bavarian Village is a shopping and tourist town not to be missed. Choose to drive, take the train from Seattle, or ride the bus.

There is NO set agenda for the weekend. You learn and craft at your own pace. The purpose of this retreat is to relax, learn, take home some great projects, and have fun. The food is fantastic, the setting serene, and the focused time away, invaluable!

Just imagine beholding the beautiful forest outside the large windows, fireplace roaring, sipping tea while learning and crafting projects with your friends. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

You can arrive to Leavenworth by car, train, or bus. For more details visit this website: http://www.leavenworth.org/getting-here

The retreat area is 20 minutes away from Leavenworth. There is parking available. We presume most will be carpooling.

What should I bring to the event?

Unless you are staying an extra day, I would bring minimal crafting supplies besides your favorite drink or snack. All project supplies are provided for except for the following:
1) Acrylic blocks for stamping
2) Your favorite craft adhesive (I supply Liquid Glue, Glue Dots, and Dimensionals)
3) Your favorite pair of scissors

What are the rooms like?

There are two types of basic rooms; Double Room and a Loft Room.

The Double Rooms have two twin beds, closet, and sink with a shared bathroom between 2-3 rooms. Double rooms can be switched to a single room.

It’s not rustic by any means but it isn’t a spa resort either. Comfort and beauty. Because of all the different options with lodging, there are different registration levels. It’s best if you are looking for a double room, to secure your registration with a friend as soon as possible.

Can I stay an extra day?

Yes, you can. We have several people who will be arriving the day before the event starts. If you are interested, please signup below. Extra days do not include food service but there is a refrigerator if you would like to bring your food. We usually spend the day in Leavenworth and enjoy the quaintness of the town and cuisine.

What is the MarketPlace?

It has been my experience from past events that some guests like to take their time and not be rushed (that’s me). I’ve designed the event so you can complete included technique projects without being rushed. However, there are those who stay up late or quick at completing the projects so I have created the MarketPlace. The MarketPlace is where top paper crafting designers will offer projects to be completed that are more detailed projects (or just plain cute), ranging from cards to gift giving. This is your opportunity to craft amazing projects with the designer on hand to help guide you and answer questions. These projects are optional. The prices and themes will vary, generally between $1 to $35.

MarketPlace projects are not included in the retreat price

What's the weather like?

This is our 5th year organizing a retreat in March. We’ve never had to cancel the event. The roads are cleared of snow and well groomed to Leavenworth. It’s always a good idea to use a vehicle that has at least front wheel drive, to be patient, and drive safe during day hours. That’s why we offer rooms ahead and after the retreat to give you plenty of time. There is also the option to take a train or bus.

In the unlikely event there is sever weather issues, we will cancel the event. See refund policy below.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

You are available to transfer your registration to someone else or have the projects mailed to you.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Nope, it’s not necessary

What is the refund policy?

Due to the nature of this intimate event, details are planned and personalized far in advance for each of our guests, so all deposits and payments are 100% non-refundable. The registration fees are invested to secure your spot and to order the supplies.

In the unlikely event the retreat is cancelled by the organizer because of weather or illness, we will have an option to either attend a rescheduled event.

What if I have a food allergy?

The retreat’s food service staff receives great reviews from guest groups, especially it’s homemade goods. Special assistance is available for individuals with specific dietary needs, including diabetics and vegetarians. There is a refrigerator in each of the lodge buildings. Please let me know in the notes section when you register if you have specific dietary needs.

I have a mobility challenge, can I still attend?

Yes, you can. You can participate in as much or as little as you would like, there are no requirements. There is a single ADA room in the retreat building that is on the ground floor. Meals are served in another building and will require walking about the length of a block (or you can drive) with one flight of stairs. If needed, we can always bring the meal back to you. We will do our best to accommodate you.

When are meals served?

We are the only guests at the retreat, so we have some flexibility on meal times. Breakfasts are served between 8:00am to 9:00am. Lunch is served at noon. Dinner is generally served around 5:30pm. There is no full meal service on the first night but we will a wonderful assortment of appetizers and snacks available. Tea, water, and an assortment of beverages will be available in the stamping area during the day.
