FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is the retreat?

A little town called Union, Washington with small town charms stretching along the Hood Canal.

What should I bring to the event?

Unless you are staying an extra day, I would bring minimal crafting supplies besides your favorite drink or snack. All project supplies are provided for except for the following:
1) High quality acrylic blocks for stamping: size d and h
2) Your favorite craft adhesive (I supply liquid glue)
3) Your favorite pair of scissors

What are the rooms like?

There are three types of rooms;
Double Rooms with a bathroom
Single Rooms with Twin Bed and shared bathroom
Shared Rooms with shared bathrooms.

Shared bathrooms are available down the halls. There are no sinks in the rooms, except for the Double Rooms with bathroom.

The shared rooms with shared bathrooms will be assigned based on how many are coming in your group and when you register.

I would describe the rooms as basic cozy. Linens are included.

Because of all the different options with lodging, there are different registration levels. It’s best if you are looking for a double room with a bathroom to secure your registration with a friend as soon as possible.

Can I stay an extra day?

We are not certain at this time if there will be rooms available for Sunday night. The retreat is booked Thursday night. If you are interested, please let me know. Payment will need to be paid when you arrive at the retreat area and not paid online. There will be no food service but there is a refrigerator if you would like to bring your food. We usually spend the day in the town and enjoy the quaintness of the town and cuisine.

What is the MarketPlace?

It has been my experience from past events that some guests like to take their time and not be rushed (that’s me). I’ve designed the event so you can complete included technique projects without being rushed. However, there are those who stay up late or quick at completing the projects so I have created the MarketPlace. The MarketPlace is where top paper crafting designers will offer projects to be completed that are more detailed projects (or just plain cute), ranging from cards to gift giving. This is your opportunity to craft amazing projects with the designer on hand to help guide you and answer questions. These projects are optional. The prices and themes will vary, generally between $1 to $45.

MarketPlace projects are not included in the retreat price

What's the weather like?

It should be warm, with a cool breeze. The crafting room and the lodging rooms have air conditioning.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

You are available to transfer your registration to someone else or have the projects mailed to you.

What is the refund policy?

Due to the nature of this intimate event, details are planned and personalized far in advance for each of our guests, so all deposits and payments are 100% non-refundable. The registration fees are invested to secure your spot and to order the supplies.

In the unlikely event the retreat is cancelled by the organizer because of weather or illness, you will have an option to either attend a rescheduled event or we will refund lodging and food costs and send you all the supplies to complete the projects at home.

What if I have a food allergy?

The retreat’s food service staff receives great reviews from guest groups, especially it’s homemade goods. Special assistance is available for individuals with specific dietary needs, including diabetics and vegetarians. There is a refrigerator in each of the lodge buildings. Please let me know during registration if you have specific dietary needs.

I have a mobility challenge, can I still attend?

The rooms are all upstairs except for the two double rooms with attached bathrooms.

When are meals served?

We are the only guests at the retreat, so we have some flexibility on meal times. Breakfasts are served between 8:00am to 9:00am. Lunch is served at noon. Dinner is generally served around 5:30pm. There is no meal service on Friday but we will have snacks available. Coffee, tea, water and an assortment of beverages will be available in the stamping area during the day.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

I’m happy to help. Please use the Contact Us link at the top of the page to contact me.

I had a wonderful time at the Technique Retreat 2015 and enjoyed all the projects. The retreat was well-organized, had beautiful projects, and the venue was amazing. I’ll definitely sign-up for the next one!

I got a beautiful card in the mail. You know, one of those that looks like it came from someone who crafts and thinks highly enough of me to take the time to make it. Thank you for my card!!!

I do so enjoy ya’ll’s service. I am learning a lot from your information.

Such a wonderful presentation! I love those colors, but wouldn’t think to put them together; thank you for sharing your ideas! [on Color Inspiration for August]

My Favorite Amazon Crafting Buys

I’ve become an Amazon junkie since I have Amazon Prime and Dot. If I’m not buying crafting stuff from my own Stampin’ Up! store, I then go to Amazon. These items are tried and true products I use all the time. I’ve mentioned or my customers, friends, and demo sisters have seen me use them and have asked where I ordered them from and how much. My mind isn’t what it used to be so I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Amazon craft finds here. I’ll continue to update this list.

Sale-A-Bration Calendar

It’s Sale-a-Bration time, so you can earn rewards with qualifying orders. Many use this popular sale to get their hands on new favorites from the Occasions catalog, check items off their Annual catalog wish list, and to stock up on basics like adhesives, envelopes, and papers – all while getting rewarded with exclusive free stamp and more.  I used the fabulous reward stamp sets to create a Mini Calendar.

Stampin' Blends 2017Year-EndReview

Year-End Review 2017

Blow up the balloons! Queue up the resolutions! Chill the champagne!

It’s almost New Year’s Eve!

I love this time of year, not for the glamorous parties and excuse to wear all the bling, but because it represents a clean slate with so many possibility.

It’s also the perfect time to look back over the year to see what went well and what didn’t. January is a time for projection and setting goals, the last month of the year is often a time of introspection.
