We have a lot of fun at the Summer Crafting Fun Weekend Retreat. This retreat is based on the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog being released June 1st, 2020. The focus at this retreat is relaxing and inspiration with more challenging paper fun-fold crafting project.

Our setting for this retreat will be Saint Andrew’s House Retreat Center in Union, WA. This beautiful venue overlooks picturesque Hood Canal. Here you’ll enjoy great conversation, six delicious locally sourced chef-prepared meals, cozy rooms in a rustic, historic log lodge, majestic views of the water and Olympic Mountains (weather cooperating, of course) and free time to enjoy our inner and outer landscapes. Union is a wonderful small town to explore. Consider taking advantage of our early reservations on Thursday night and take a ferry ride from Seattle.

We will be trying out new and exciting products with a focus on learning over the top projects. Plus, you’ll be taking home a bag full of new products to work with.

By demand, we are making a mail home retreat option available as well as the opening up orders for the MarketPlace. Click here to find out more.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is the retreat?

A little town called Union, Washington with small town charms stretching along the Hood Canal.

What should I bring to the event?

Unless you are staying an extra day, I would bring minimal crafting supplies besides your favorite drink or snack. All project supplies are provided except for the following:
1) High quality acrylic blocks for stamping: sizes b, c, d, g, and h
2) Your favorite craft adhesive (I supply Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots)
3) Your favorite pair of scissors or trimmer

What if I already have the Retreat Stamp Set?

You can substitute the retreat stamp set if you already have it. You’ll need to bring it to the retreat as you’ll be using it for all projects. You’ll be able to select your stamp set during registration.

Stamp Set Announcement is June 15th, 2010

What are the rooms like?

There are three types of rooms;
Double Rooms with a bathroom
Single Rooms with Twin Bed and shared bathroom
Shared Rooms with shared bathrooms.

Shared bathrooms are available down the halls. There are no sinks in the rooms, except for the Double Rooms with bathroom.

The shared rooms with shared bathrooms will be assigned based on how many are coming in your group and when you register.

I would describe the rooms as basic cozy. Linens are included.

Because of all the different options with lodging, there are different registration levels. It’s best if you are looking for a double room with a bathroom to secure your registration with a friend as soon as possible.

Single Room

Can I stay an extra day?

YES! The rooms are availabe Thursday night. If you are interested, you can add an extra night during registration. There will be no food service but there is a refrigerator if you would like to bring your food and some wonderful restaurants locally. We usually spend the day in the town and enjoy the quaintness of the town and cuisine.

What is the MarketPlace?

It has been my experience from past events that some guests like to take their time and not be rushed (that’s me). I’ve designed the event so you can complete included technique projects without being rushed. However, there are those who stay up late or quick at completing the projects so I have created the MarketPlace. The MarketPlace is where top paper crafting designers will offer projects to be completed that are more detailed projects (or just plain cute), ranging from cards to gift giving. This is your opportunity to craft amazing projects with the designer on hand to help guide you and answer questions. These projects are optional. The prices and themes will vary, generally between $1 to $25.

MarketPlace projects are not included in the retreat price

What's the weather like?

It should be warm, with a cool breeze. The crafting room and the lodging rooms have air conditioning.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

You are able to transfer your registration to someone else or have the projects mailed to you.

What is the refund policy?

Due to the nature of this intimate event, details are planned and personalized far in advance for each of our guests, so all deposits and payments are 100% non-refundable. The registration fees are invested to secure your spot and to order the supplies.

In the unlikely event the retreat is cancelled by the organizer because of weather or illness, you will have an option to either attend a rescheduled event or we will refund lodging and food costs and send you all the supplies to complete the projects at home.

What if I have a food allergy?

The retreat’s food service staff receives great reviews from guest groups, especially it’s homemade goods. Special assistance is available for individuals with specific dietary needs, including diabetics and vegetarians. There is a guest refrigerator in the lodge. Please let me know during registration if you have specific dietary needs.

I have a mobility challenge, can I still attend?

The rooms are all upstairs except for the two double rooms with attached bathrooms on the lower level.

When are meals served?

We are the only guests at the retreat, so we have some flexibility on meal times. Breakfasts are served at 9:00am. Lunch is served at noon. Dinner is generally served around 6:00pm. There is no meal service on Friday but we will have appetizers available (enough for a meal). Coffee, tea, water and an assortment of beverages will be available in the stamping area during the day.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

I’m happy to help. Please use the Contact Us link at the top of the page to contact me.

CRAFTING RETREATS

We host 4 weekend retreats every year: Technique Retreat in Leavenworth Washington, Summer Fun Retreat in Union Washington, Fall Retreat near Denver Colorado, and Handmade Holidays Retreat in Rockaway Beach Oregon. Our retreats are all-inclusive, informative, and fun. View our upcoming retreats here.

Each spring I look forward to attending the Craftyperson’s technique retreat! There is always delicious foods, a serene setting, thoughtfully prepared projects and lots of surprises. The staff and facilities are top notch and Debbie has a great group of ladies that love to share their ideas and more than willing to help each other. One of my favourite parts is showing up with just scissors! She provides everything so there is not stress about packing either. All project supplies are provided even the adhesives. The event is designed so you can complete the technique project without stress and take your time. I you are a night owl or just speedy there is also a MarketPlace where her designers provide more detailed projects. Some of the projects are seen above. They always blow me away with their ideas and it’s lovely that they are right there to answer any questions and help you along if you need extra guidance. These projects are optional and reasonably priced. Visit her Craftyperson website if you might like to be included in one of her events. You will be happy you did!

I got a beautiful card in the mail. You know, one of those that looks like it came from someone who crafts and thinks highly enough of me to take the time to make it. Thank you for my card!!!

I do so enjoy ya’ll’s service. I am learning a lot from your information.

Such a wonderful presentation! I love those colors, but wouldn’t think to put them together; thank you for sharing your ideas! [on Color Inspiration for August]

The Mini Catalog Inspiration

Flowers for Every Season Suite

Long before it was a Covid-19 thing, stampers were masking – in a fun way!

Crafters make masking cool and I’m excited to share this simple and useful stamping technique with you. This card also features several new products from the gorgeous Flowers For Every Season Suite.

Masking is a simple technique that blocks off areas of a project to create white space. It can create a faux layering effect or highlight an area for a greeting or focal point. Masking can be loose and artsy with torn edges or precise straight lines or shapes depending on what you use to create your mask.
