There is something magical about the anticipation of the holiday season. As a child, we were making lists for Santa and bursting with excitement as we waited to see what special gifts we might receive. To try to pass the time, we would count the days. Maybe we made a paper chain and tore off a loop a day or maybe we had an Advent calendar.
Either way, we made it fun to count the days. Now, counting the days may be an opportunity to stop and savor the moment as they seem so fleeting, lost in the to-do lists. This Advent calendar can help to count down the days while helping to savor and preserve the memories.
I created an Activities Sheet which can be downloaded if you are a subscriber to our 12 Weeks of Christmas series. I added items like “Be Merry All Day”, “Count Reindeer”, “Eat Cookies”. Of course, you can use your favorite traditions. Cut out the activities using Paper Snips or the Stampin’ Trimmer and add to the back. You can also tape little candy bars to the back as well. A way to limit your intake.
I will have an Advent Calendar class in Portland. Hope you can make it. The class includes the frame for $40.
If an Advent Calendar isn’t an advent calendar without candy, you’ll appreciate this alternate version. Just add some of the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes and a few of our favorite Big Shot Thinlets and Framelits.
