Class in a Flash Newsletter
Tip of the Month-March 2008

Tip of the Month

Class in a Flash is packed full of great timesaving tools for you. One of the most important is the Customer Instructions. These detailed instructions with photos are a great tool, but it is a large document and can be intimidating. Knowing some tips on how to use the Customer Instructions makes them an even more effective tool.

Tips for using the Customer Instructions document:
  • First print and use these instructions for building your sample project to show-off at your class. Once you've made the project you are the expert your customers can come to for advice.

  • File your printed copy in a notebook. Over time you will have an impressive portfolio of project right at your fingertips!

  • Use your printed copy as a resource, one copy, or one at each table should be sufficient to supplement your instructions during your classes.

  • Use the Customer Instructions in Class in the Mail or Class to Go kits for those that couldn't attend your class in person. Either a printed or an electronic copy you put on a CD or email to your customers is great for providing them the detailed instructions they need to complete the project even though they were not at the class to receive your personal instruction.

  • Some demonstrators like to send the Customer Instructions document to the people that attended their class along with a note thanking them for attending. This allows a follow up contact and offer to order any supplies they may have forgotten to order while at the class.

  • Some demonstrators like to offer an Online Class. In this option they sell the Customer Instructions to their customers (not other demonstrators) for a fee, usually as an electronic copy delivered by email or as a download. In this option the customer receives only the Customer Instructions not any actual Stampin' Up! supplies, but would then order any needed supplies from their demonstrator.
  •   Please consult the Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Manual for specific on selling on the web.

  • Some demonstrators like to give the Customer Instructions to their customers as a gift with purchase. Perhaps you create a bundle of supplies used in the project, such as Bali Breeze DSP, Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and Die-cut Blooms. If a customer purchases this bundle they get the Customer Instructions as a bonus gift.

Tips for using the Customer Instructions Summary document:
  • Use the Customer Instructions Summary document as a handout to class attendees. This shorter version contains supplies used and measurements, so customers can recreate the project on their own. They have gained the detail knowledge of the project by building it for themselves at your class, and should be able to recreate it with the summary instructions provided in the Customer Instructions Summary document.

  • This document reduces your printing costs for your class, and still allows you to provide them with a handout to take home.
