Testimonials

"Having Debbie compose a newsletter for me with only my personalization to add is a huge benefit to my business. It does not take much time to think of a greeting, my customers loved the personal audio message, and the ease of having a wonderful looking newsletter go out in a timely manner. It saves me time and makes me look awesome in the eyes of my customers. Debbie does a wonderful job and I would recommend this service to any demonstrator."

SUN Complimentary Test Import Process

This exercise will walk you through the process you will go through for importing a SUN newsletter into a Constant Contact campaign. You will need a working knowledge of Constant Contact to perform this test.

For this newsletter campaign you will receive a ZIP file which includes three files from me, an Adobe file to see the finished product, a HTML file and a TEXT file. Normally my members receive these files attached to their email but it wasn't technically possible with this offer.  If you are unfamiliar with downloading zip and exe files please read my How to have a successful download instructions.

U.S. Version Download File
Canadian Version Download File

Once you have the two files, Open Constant Contact

Constant Contact recently added a upgraded version to their offering.  Since I'm not sure which version you are using, I've left the instructions generic since they both function very similarly.  This quick tutorial is for demonstrators who are comfortable working in Constant Contact already.  For detailed instructions please see Constant Contact help files.

1) Create a new an Email

2) Name the Campaign (Stampin Samples Sept) and click Next. The name is just so you can recognize the campaign later.

3) Select Category - Custom and click next
                            or
Email Template - Use my own code

4) Select HTML and click next

5) Fill in all information. Message Header, Personalization and Message Footer with your information.

6) Select Advanced Editor

7) Under HTML editor tab:

Clear all exist HTML-It's important that there is nothing in the box.

        Open the attached HTML file

Copy/Paste contents into the Advanced Editor

8) Repeat process with text.

9) Preview your newsletter. Both the HTML Version and the Text Version.

10) Click on the Save & Return button

11) Done!

Although this newsletter is dated and has my contact information, it is still a good test to run through.  If you are getting Constant Contact errors that say "Your html must close the <HTML> tag" or you have no pictures in the HTML version, please see Still Having Trouble Downloading section.

How to have a successful download

Not all computers or browsers react the same, so follow these instructions for best results:
  • Right click on the download link (Mac: Control click) and choose “Save Target As” or a similar save option if your browser says something different.
  • Choose a location for the download. I recommend that you create a new folder in your "My Documents" folder.
  • Click okay to begin the download.
  • When the download is complete, navigate to the folder you created, and you should find the file there.
  • If the file is a WinZip Self-Extracting file (filename.exe) you will need to open the file to retrieve the working files. Double-click on the file and a dialog box will open.  Notice the folder where the file will be unzipped to or select another folder name.  Select "Unzip".
  • If the file is zipped (filename.zip) it will need to be extracted before it is usable. In Windows, right click on the file and choose “extract” or “extract all.” On the Mac, double click the file.  Choose a location for the files to be located at.
  • Download activity is heaviest on the server when the first couple days after I release a new product. If you have trouble during that time, you might want to try back a little later.
  • Still having trouble? Have dial up? File opens into HTML? Click here for further suggestions and instructions.

Still Having Trouble Downloading?

Some computers open files differently than others. If when you open the *_HTML.txt file you receive a complete graphical newsletter and not the HTML code (I call this garbly gook), your computer may have default settings to do this. Normally, that would be fine but it is not going to help you this time. I recommend instead of double-clicking with your mouse to open the file - try highlighting or selecting the file. The selecting FILE from the menu options above or using the right-button on the mouse. It should look something like this below.

You will have the OPEN WITH option. This allows you to pick and choose what program you want to use to open the file. I recommend Notepad as the program of choice.

MAC Users - I'm a PC girl but I do have several MAC user members.  They suggest using the HELP VIEWER instead of the Notepad option above.

You should see something like this (garbly gook).

This is called HTML.  Please select all the HTML and copy and paste it into Constant Contact.  Please note the very first thing you should see is <HTML and the very last thing should be </HTML>.

Browsers

Different browsers respond in different ways when downloading. If you still encounter difficulties, you might have better results with a different browser. For instance, if you are using Internet Explorer, you might try Firefox or Netscape instead. We find that sometimes Internet Explorer is a little quirky and another browser will not have the same issues. Firefox and Netscape can be downloaded at no charge from their respective websites:

http://www.firefox.com/

http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/

If you have a dial-up connection my files are generally very small so it should not take very long to download these files.

If you are still having difficulty please feel free to write to me. We will do whatever we can to make sure you have a successful and enjoyable experience with our resources.  Please include as much details as you can.
